If your club is considering applying for the FA Charter Standard Club award and we sincerely hope you are, the following is a step by step guide about the process.
Step 1
Please visit the FA Charter Standard Club links to the right and download the FA Charter Standard Club Introductory pack, other helpful downloads and the application form. Read through the application form and familiarise yourself with what criteria your club needs to meet for it to achieve the award.
Step 2
Make a call or pop into the Herefordshire FA office where Paul will be happy to assist you through the early stages and explain the criteria in more detail. Paul is also happy to meet with the club at a venue of your choosing.
Following the initial meeting you will have a better idea of the course of action to follow and a better understanding of the process is and what is involved.
Step 3
Once you are underway and the information is cascaded through your club this is when we can assist you the most. There will of course be questions and areas of clarification needed. We will support you all the way on the phone, by club visits or if you prefer, you can come into the office for more direct support from Paul.
It is essential that everyone within your club including players and parents buy into the ethos of the FA Charter Standard Club award.
A member of the HFA football development team will visit a number of fixtures that your club is involved in to sample the conduct and behaviour of your clubs officials, managers, coaches, players and spectators to ensure that acceptable standards of behaviour are evident.
Should there be any cause for concern at this stage your club will be advised and any concerns would need to be addressed before your application could proceed any further.
Step 4
Once your application is received with all supporting evidence it is checked carefully to clarify that all criteria has been met.
Step 5
The application is then submitted to the Herefordshire FA Charter Standard committee for final comments and support. Final adjustments or amendments may be required at this stage.
Step 6
If all criteria are met and there are no disciplinary issues within your club your application is sent to the Football Association at Soho Square for final approval. You’re almost there!
Step 7
The club will be contacted directly by the FA in 4 - 8 weeks from the time the FA receive your completed application to confirm that your club has achieved the FA Charter Standard club award. Paul will then contact you to arrange to present you with your well earned award. Well done but this is just the beginning!
Step 8
Your club will need to demonstrate an ongoing committment to work with the FA to maintain high standards of football delivery in line with the FA Charter Standard Club criteria and ethos.
