Promotion

All Herefordshire FA registered referees over the age of 16 as at 1st September can apply for promotion to the appropriate level. The individual referee must be registered with one or more adult leagues affiliated to the HFA.

Applications should be made in writing to Sean Dipple .The referee promotion season runs from 1st March until the 28th February each year. 

The closing date for referee’s to apply for promotion the end of February.

Referee requirements: Before applying for promotion the referee must:
Be registered with the HFA. Have completed the Safeguarding Children Workshop (SCW)
Have completed a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check (if over 18 years old)
Having applied for promotion and in line with the HFA and Football Association regulation, all promotion candidates must: (in the promotion season).
* Referee a minimum of twenty (11v11) games of adult football.
* You are expected to act as an Assistant Referee throughout the season for a minimum of five Supply league games, which can also include U18 Football Association Academy games.
* You must attend the Assistant Referee seminar, attend a Referee promotion seminar and pass a Referee promotion exam. 
All referee promotion candidates will be assessed on a minimum of three appointments during their marking season. It is important that you respond immediately to any correspondence from the HFA, failure to do so may affect your chances of achieving promotion. 

Referee Promotion Nomination to Level 4

Nomination for promotion to Level 4 is now available to all Level 5 registered referees, but you must be available on Saturdays and midweek. If you are successful you would be refereeing on a Football Association Supply League and acting as an assistant referee on a Contributory League. It should be noted that an increased commitment is required at this level with longer distances to travel and more administration.
Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination, referees must meet the following criteria:

• Senior County Referees (Level 5) as at the 1st March 2010

• Receive a minimum of five assessments via the County Football Association and achieve a 75% average assessor mark. No referee will be nominated with less than three assessments. If only three assessments are carried out you must finish in the top 50% of the Club Mark Merit Table on the league you operate.
• Referee a minimum of fifteen matches of senior adult 11 v 11 football during the
2009-2010 marking season.. (01/03/09. to 28/02/10). You are expected to act as an Assistant Referee throughout the season for a minimum of five Supply league games, which can also include U18 Football Association Academy games

• You must successfully complete a Contributory League Assistant Referee Fitness Test on the 8th or 13th September 2009 to allow the County Association to focus on those who pass the test in terms of completing the minimum three to five assessments required for nomination. Please ensure that you produce a current blood pressure test certificate prior to any fitness test (NO CERTIFICATE , NO TEST)

The Standard to be attained is:

* 12 minute continuous run, minimum distance to be completed, 2,500 metres.
2 x 50 metre sprint – max 7.5 seconds for each sprint.
* All referees who apply for promotion will be required to give full details of all their fixtures to the Assessor Co-ordinator as soon as the appointments are received, they must also make him aware of any cancellations / re-appointments or amendments to their fixtures as soon as they are known.
* Questions or clarification that promotion candidates may have in relation to their promotion should be directed in the first instance to the Hon. Referees’ Secretary
* Names of all candidates who meet the above criteria will be submitted to the Football Association for promotion to Level 4.

Remember the final selection rests with the Football Association NOT the Herefordshire Football Association
