Latest clubs to achieve FA Charter Standard

Well done to Leominster Minors FC and Ewyas Harold FC who are the latest Herefordshire clubs to work toward and achieve the FA Charter Standard club award.

In recognition of the efforts to improve the standards of football provision at the clubs, Leominster Minors and Ewyas Harold football clubs have received the Football Association's Charter Standard award.

The Football Association is working hard to develop the quality of grassroots football – after all, just about every player will pass through a club like this at some stage in their footballing careers. It is so important that we get the experience right – one where we try hard to ensure that as many players participate, can achieve whatever level of quality they can; and enjoy the experience so that they go on to play sport later in life – and keep themselves fit and healthy.

The FA Charter Standard Programme provides recognition that clubs are well run and sustainable, with child protection and safety paramount. It also recognises a club's commitment to coaching, player and coach development, and the raising of standards of behaviour in the game - all of which are big priorities for the FA.

However, this is just the beginning; the award is only given for three years at a time, so local FA Charter Standard clubs will be supported to maintain the high standards now and into the future to ensure that local people who want to enjoy their football can do so in a safe and well structured environment.
