Four U12 teams - Bartestree, Hinton, Ledbury Swifts and Leominster Minors played in a round robin league format following the delivery of Futsal taster sessions.
With a prize to Shrewsbury awaiting the winning team the league games were very competitive and exemplified the reasons why Futsal is such an exciting game with players constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in confined spaces placing considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
As the evening progressed it became evident that it would be the team that soaked up pressure and broke at speed the best to score that would win through and this was typified by winners Bartestree who for large periods in their three matches were on the back foot but broke swiftly and clinically when they won the ball.
The standard of play from all teams taking part was very high and this was bettered only by the behaviour of the participating players.
Futsal was the biggest winner on the night and we sincerely hope that the four teams that took part will be joined by others when regular Futsal league opportunities are offered at the new £1,000,000 RNC, Hereford Futsal facility in 2009.
