Thanks to Sport England, the West Midland Regional Female Coach Mentoring Programme will once again be running during 2010. Sport England has awarded the programme £7798 to continue the successful programme which was first launched during the 2007/2008 season. Due to this success, the West Midland FA Girls and Women’s Football Development Officers and the FA were keen to continue the successful programme that had taken place to support 15 female football coaches to complete their FA Level 2.
The programme, which is supported by National, Regional and County FA staff as well as FA Charter Standard Clubs, aims to identify FA Level 1 coaches who are keen to complete the FA Level 2 and provide a comprehensive support programme from start to finish, giving each coach relevant support to complete the programme.
The programme starts 6 months prior to the FA Level 2 training week taking place and provides workshops, meetings and practical opportunities for the coaches to build up confidence and competence in delivering FA Level 2 sessions prior to the course itself. Coaches are supported both Regionally and locally as a group and within their club and are given guidance throughout the programme.
Each coach involved in the programme is assigned an individual mentor who’s responsibility is to act as an advisor to the coach, helping to develop the coach in specific areas and providing feedback to coaching sessions that the coach delivers throughout the duration of their FA Level 2 journey.
The application process is now open to coaches and mentors from within the 5 Counties in the West Midlands (Birmingham, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire). Individual applications will be accepted from coaches and mentors with separate application forms available for either role. Should a coach already be working with a mentor, both coaches are encouraged to apply.
Further information with regards to the programme can be found on the individual application forms, as well as the specific guidelines and criteria for the programme.
We are now in the process of seeking applicants for the programme. If you are a female FA Level 1 coach in Staffordshire and looking to complete our FA Level 2, please complete the relevant application form.
