The Man Behind The Lens

Many local events and football matches over the last couple of years have been covered by Will Cheshire’s now award winning photography.

Ahead of the 2017 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus in Cardiff, The Football Association of Wales looked to promote grassroots football, so in turn launched the 'This is Welsh Football' photo competition. Will scooped the award in the over 16’s category, which was presented by Liverpool and Wales legend Ian Rush, who described the photo as “football in a nutshell”.  Congratulations to Will on what is thoroughly deserved recognition.

If your club has a particular event/match coming up that you would like photographed, Will would be happy to speak with you. You can find Will’s bio and contact details via the link.

Hi Will, can you please tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Will Cheshire and I am photographer based in Herefordshire.  At present, I mainly cover Football but have also provided support to many other sporting and community events. I have been photographing for around 18 months now, so I am still continuing to learn and I am always looking for a new challenge or opportunity.

How long have you been photographing football?

My initial foray into football photography began with The Herefordshire Sunday league. Following on from this, at the start of the 2016/17 season, I became club photographer for Welsh side Abergavenny Town. I now cover both the men’s and ladies sides on a regular basis. I frequently photograph Hereford FC's youth sides alongside filming for the first team as part of their media team.

Where has your photography been featured?

My photography has been used by many clubs, websites, newspapers and other media platforms.  I have also received nominations for photography awards and recently won an award for “This is Welsh football”. As a result my photo was put on display at the Champions League gallery during the Champions League finals festival in Cardiff.

Where can people see more of your fantastic work, and how can they get in touch if they want you to cover one of their games?

I hold a current basic DBS, undergone English & Welsh football association safeguarding checks and hold public liability insurance up to £1 million.
