Bromyard pip Fownhope to Veterans League Title

With the sun shining and a good crowd of supporters watching on the scene was set for an exciting day of football.  The first half was a close affair, with both sides closing each other out. Chances were few and far between and the second half had to open up as Bromyard looked to leap frog Fownhope A to the top of the table.

The second half started positively for Bromyard who second early on and double their lead from the penalty mark minutes later.  However, Fownhope came back into the game with a long range strike and continued to press with some impressive goalkeeping by the Bromyard keeper ensuring the final scored finished 2-1.

The standard of football on show was extremely high and it is clear to see that all involved enjoyed playing in the new league.  Dates of next season will be released shortly as the planning start for the second HFA Veterans League season starting in May 2014.

The second game of the day saw Ross Junior take on Fownhope B.  Fownhope B came out on top in this clash winning 2-1.

Please be aware that the league is for players aged 40+ with only two players 35-39 allowed on the pitch at one time.
