However the main match of the day for the players actually took place in the morning before the Hereford FC game…. Twyford Spartans Jeff Rawlings had successfully arranged a fixture with Mike Humphries against our very own Hereford Ability Counts FC team at The Point 4.
The teams played 3 entertaining but competitive small sided games which included everyone as each match both managers’ shuffled personnel. Hereford came out of the blocks quickly and scored early in the first game subsequently adding 2 more goals through some clinical finishing to take Match One 3-0
Match Two proved to be equally split as the score ended 0-0.
Match Three Twyford took a lead from a quality free kick, but were then pegged back to trail 1-2, but a late equaliser meant spoils were shared 2-2.
All players had a tremendous time and forged some friendships. All the football was played in great respectful spirit and hopefully the two groups can meet again in the future! The player and spectators from Tiverton were very appreciative of the hospitality shown by their hosts.
Both teams play in local FA Ability Counts leagues, for players with a variation of disabilities to access league based football fixtures every six weeks during the football season. This game provided the opportunity to have a friendly fixture ahead of the teams supporting their own local clubs and wish it could happen more often!
