Herefordshire Girls Player Development Centre Festival

Last Thursday saw the Herefordshire Football Association host their second consecutive Girls Player Development Centre Festival at The Hereford…

The Festivals are held by various County FA’s within the school holidays and attending last Thursday were Worcestershire, Shropshire and Nottingham County FA’s. Over 100 girls aged between 10-15 years old attended the event and were watched by parents and other family members.

The U11's played on the all weather surface, with the U13's and U15's playing on the two grass pitches. All the girls who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and after playing in a series of fixtures for their age groups. The festival also gave the chance for young and upcoming Referee’s to get more experience in tournament football and develop their refereeing.

The Herefordshire Football Association would like to thank all at the Hereford Academy for allowing us use of their facilities to hold the festival and to the other three County FA’s for attending.

A Player Development Centre is a local County FA run Centre for U11, U13 and U15 age groups. The PDC is the next step on The FA female talent pathway for girls who have played school and grassroots club football and currently sits below The FA Centre of Excellence Programme.

The aim of the Centre is to offer young players with potential, a higher standard of coaching to assist their personal development in football. This is achieved through coaching the players through a programme where they will be challenged in line with The FA’s 4 Corner Model (technically, physically, psychologically and socially).

We still have a limited number of places for girls to trial and potentially join the U15 age group. Training takes places on Friday evening between 7:30pm and 9:00pm at the Hereford Academy on the All Weather Surface.
