Herefordshire FA Sunday League Funding Grants

HFA Back Sunday League

The Herefordshire FA have provided over £1000 in funding to Sunday League sides

The Herefordshire FA have recently supported 4 County League Sunday Division sides with funding and new kit in preparation for the new season.

The Herefordshire FA Sunday Football Fund was launched as a direct result of feedback gathered from those involved in Sunday Football within the county. As part of the HFAs aim to protect and develop the Sunday League, a survey was carried out earlier this year to gain the opinions and ideas of those involved.

In total over 140 people responded to the survey (full results available here) and the cost of participation was highlighted as the number one barrier to participation. The lack of teams was also highlighted as an area for improvement. The Sunday Football Fund was launched as a means of addressing both these issues by offering existing teams up to £300.00 to help cover the cost of facilities, referees and kit for the 2018/19 season. New teams were able to apply for a starter pack and receive a brand new Nike kit and other equipment including match balls and training balls.

With applications received from 4 teams, Herefordshire FA were pleased to offer £900.00 worth of funding to support these teams as well as a starter pack worth over £400 to one of the new sides.

The clubs benefitting from the funding include Credenhill Rangers, Dorstone, The Lion and Whitecross FC who will be competing with Hereford City Harriers in the new look Sunday Division as well as the Sunday Cup competition. The league is still open to new teams and Herefordshire FA would like to encourage applications from anybody still considering entering the Sunday League .

Herefordshire FA will continue to develop and implement new ways of supporting and growing adult 11v11 football in the county. If you or anyone you know is interested in playing Sunday Football please contact info@HerefordshieFA.com or 01432 342179 and we can direct you to your nearest team.
