Herefordshire FA County Sunday League

Weekend Fixture Picks

We've rounded up some key fixtures across the Herefordshire Leagues and Cups

Want to go and watch some local football this weekend? We've picked out some key fixtures spread across Friday-Sunday for you to check out in the County League and HFA Cups

County League

Premier: Fownhope vs Malvern Town Reserves

Fifth place Fownhope welcome sixth place Malvern Town Reserves on Saturday in the County Premier Division, looking to get revenge for their 4-2 loss in Malvern two weeks ago. Both teams currently sit on 27 points, although Fownhope have played a game less, and will be looking to close the gap on Ledbury Town who don’t have a fixture this weekend.

Division 1: Hereford City vs Ross Juniors

Since these teams last met in October, a game Ross Jrs won 5-0, Hereford City have scored at least once in every game they have played – a run lasting 12 matches. Ross meanwhile have scored in every game this season and come into the game off the back of a good win against second placed Hinton Reserves. Hereford City are unbeaten in their last 3 home games and have only lost once in 2019 making this a tricky fixture for both teams.

Division 2: Dore Valley vs Withington

Dore Valley are now the form team in Division 2, having won their last four and remaining unbeaten in five. They host Withington, who have picked themselves off the bottom of the table with two impressive results against Orleton (2-2) and Kington Town Reserves (2-0). Dore Valley will want to maintain the pressure on first placed Civil Service who visit Malvern Vale on Saturday but Withington will be looking to continue picking up points.

Sunday: Whitecross vs Credenhill Rangers

With the league already tied up and won by Leominster based team The Lion, Credenhill Rangers visit Whitecross with the opportunity to leapfrog Hereford City Harriers into second place. Whitecross meanwhile are level on points with Dorstone and both will want to pip the other to fourth in the table at the end of the season.

Cup Competitions

HFA Womens County Cup: Hay St Mary vs Ludlow Town Ladies

Hay St Mary’s are the only remaining Development League team in the Women’s County Cup and host Ludlow Town Ladies under the floodlights at Forest Road on Friday night. Both teams know a win tonight will put them in the HFA  Womens County Cup final, a competition which is back after several years absence.

HFA Junior Cup: Ludlow Town Colts vs Shobdon and St Johns Howle Hill vs Ledbury Town Reserves

The Junior Cup is now also at the semi-final stage and has delivered two intriguing cup ties.

Division 1 leaders Ludlow Town Colts may have their eyes on a league & cup double and Shobdon are the team that stands between them and the Junior Cup Final. As they still need to play each other home and away in the league, two fixtures which could have a big say in the who wins the league, this cup result will be of interest to a number of other teams in Division 1.

St John’s Howle Hill, who ply their trade in the Premier Division of the North Gloucestershire League are enjoying their season, currently in two cup semi-finals and sitting third in the table. Likewise, Ledbury Town Reserves have been performing well in both the Junior and Ross Cup and are in in two semi-finals but are having a difficult time in the league so may perhaps have more of an eye on this than the league.
