Weekend Fixture Picks 2nd - 3rd March

We've rounded up some key fixtures across the Herefordshire Leagues and Cups

Want to go and watch some local football this weekend? We've picked out some key fixtures spread across Friday-Sunday for you to check out in the County League and HFA Cups

Premier Division: Tenbury Town vs Tenbury United

The two Tenbury sides meet in a local derby at Brimfield & Little Hereford Sports Ground on Saturday. Both teams are struggling for form, coming into this game having lost their last 3 games so will be giving it everything to take home the 3pts and ensure they carry the bragging rights in Tenbury.

Division 1: Shobdon vs Orleton

Another tough test for Shobdon, who have played first and second in the past 2 weeks, as they host 5th placed Orleton who sit just a point behind them in the table. Shobdon have not lost a league game since October, a stretch lasting 9 games, but came unstuck against Ludlow Town Colts in the Junior Cup semi-final on Saturday. Orleton’s only defeat in 2019 was against Ludlow as well, so this should be a close and competitive fixture.

Division 2: Pegasus Reserves vs Malvern Vale

Malvern Vale come into this one on the back two superb results against the top two; a 4-1 victory against Lads Club followed by a 1-1 draw with Civil Service. Not only has this helped Malvern Vale climb up the table but it has also thrown the title race wide open. Pegasus Reserves are just a point behind in the table and could climb up to fifth with a win. The previous meeting between these two sides finished 3-2 to Malvern Vale so this should be another close one.

Sunday: Credenhill Rangers vs Dorstone

Following last weekend’s draw with Whitecross, Credenhill Rangers have handed Hereford City the initiative in the battle for second place. They will be looking to get back to winning ways immediately but come against a Dorstone side who pushed league winners The Lion incredibly close last weekend.

Game of the Week: Ledbury Town vs Clee Hill

Clee Hill have four games in hand over league leaders Wellington Reserves so with Wellington not in action this weekend, this is a great opportunity to close the gap and keep the pressure on. Likewise Ledbury Town, who also have games in hand, know a win against Clee Hill can help keep their name in contention for the top honours this season. Clee Hill have won their last 6, including a home win against Ledbury Town last weekend, but Ledbury is a tough place to go and they have won 4 of their last 5 at home.
