HFA Team up with Herefordshire Mind

Youth Council Update

The HFA Youth Council give an update on some of the local charities you may want to get involved with

The Youth Council are now looking to provide monthly information about Charities from around Herefordshire, especially those who can cater for young people.

Paige Parry Chair of the HFA Youth Council said; “After our last Council meeting we decided we wanted to help share events from around the county that can involve young people. We decided that we would concentrate on local charities and help share any upcoming events and/or stories they may have. There are some great projects and fundraisers going on that will benefit young people so we want to help any way we can.”

This month we will look at Herefordshire Mind.
The Herefordshire FA have recently gone into partnership with Mind to help engage with people within Herefordshire. They say on their website that “We are Herefordshire Mind, a local mental health charity affiliated to Mind; the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. We have been developing and delivering quality services to support people living with mental health problems in Herefordshire since 1978. We are here because we believe that everyone should have good mental health and wellbeing and that no-one should face a mental health problem alone.”

Taste for Adventure “We are proud to announce the re-opening of the Boulder Barn, our new climbing facility in Hereford. This latest instalment to the Taste for Adventure Family is all part of our visionary leaders’ legacy, the late Brummie Stokes MBE BEM. Along with his wife Lynn, Brummie dreamt that adventurous activities should be available to all, regardless of age, fitness and finances and hence founded the charity ‘Taste for Adventure’ back in 1991. Over the years TFA has taken children and adults on many an adventure;  rock climbing canoeing, kayaking, gorge walking, expeditions to Everest Base camp to name but a few!! The Boulder Barn will offer affordable, fun and social bouldering in Hereford whilst generating funds to help the charity achieve its aims and objectives. The centre boasts a fantastic bouldering wall suitable for all levels, a Moonboard, cafe with seating area and a mezzanine/viewing area if you just fancy a coffee while watching the climbers in action.”
