HFA Veterans League in partnership with Herefordshire Mind

HFA Veterans League joins forces with Herefordshire Mind

The Herefordshire FA Veterans League returns in August with the support of new partners Herefordshire Mind.

After making Herefordshire Mind their official charity partner in 2019, Herefordshire Football Association are delighted to announce an extension of their agreement for the 2020/21 season. As a result of the partnership, the HFA Veterans League will now be known as the Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League.

One in four people will experience a mental health problem during their lives and studies show 40% of men would not be comfortable talking about their mental health. Herefordshire FA and Herefordshire Mind hope that drawing attention to mental health in the popular Veterans Football League will encourage more men to feel comfortable talking about their mental health.

Herefordshire Mind have extended their charity partnership with Herefordshire FA

Herefordshire FA CEO Alan Darfi commented on the partnership;

“We couldn’t be happier to extend our relationship with Herefordshire Mind and we are looking forward to developing the partnership further. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue our commitment to using the power of football to highlight the importance of mental health.”

David Harding at Herefordshire Mind added:

“Herefordshire Mind are delighted to have the continued support of Herefordshire Football Association. Evidence shows the link between good physical health and good mental health and after the experience of such challenging times over the last few months, we’re confident that together we can reach many more people and assist them to better emotional wellbeing.”

The Herefordshire Mind Veterans Football League has gone from strength to strength in recent years and this season will see 7 teams compete to lift the Veterans Shield as Civil Service look for a fourth successive league title. Teams of players aged 35 and over will take to the new County Ground AGP from Sunday 9th August to play a condensed season, due to the usual summer season being delayed. The flexible format, including varied kick off times and games played at a central venue, has proved popular with players, as all they need to do is turn up and play. The league provides competitive football in a social environment, and teams are always on the lookout for extra players to join their ranks.
