On Sunday the 5th March 12 teams representing 5 different Beaver colonies from the South Marches Scout District in Herefordshire took part in a futsal tournament at the Point 4. This was the first futsal experience for some of the players but they picked it up quickly and took part in some great matches.
Teams from Holmer, 1st Hereford, St. Martins, Tupsley and Whitecross Beaver Colonies participated in the tournament. The teams were split into two groups of six with the top two teams going on to play in semi-finals before the final (with one semi-final needing penalties to separate the teams). After a series of competitive and friendly matches between all the teams, Tupsley Jupiter triumphed over 1st Hereford Tornados in the final to bring an end to a fantastic day of futsal.
All the beavers stayed until the end to cheer on the finalists and receive their medals. This was hopefully the first of many futsal tournaments run by Herefordshire FA for the South Marches District Beavers and all the players seemed eager to play again. One of the scout leaders said
“It was brilliant to see all the beavers playing futsal, learning new skills and making new friends. There was a great atmosphere at the event and all the players couldn’t wait to get on the pitch. We look forward to running similar tournaments in the future with Herefordshire FA”
We would like to thank South Marches District Beavers and all the players, coaches, referees and parents for contributing to a great event.
