Go from wildcats to world cup with Herefordshire FA

Take Part in Wildcats to World Cup

Get in the mood for the 2019 Womens World Cup with SSE Wildcats

We are hugely excited to announce details of a new opportunity for girls to get involved in football. Girls aged 5-11 are invited to attend 5 weeks of introductory football training at one of the six Wildcats Centres within Herefordshire. Once they have honed their skills and made friends with their new team mates, they will be invited to our big World Cup Festival on the 7th July.

The Wildcats to World Cup programme provides the perfect opportunity for girls to get involved in football, learn fundamental skills and get involved in the magic of the biggest football tournament in the world. The World Cup Final takes place on 7th July in Paris at 16:00 (UK Time) with our own Wildcats World Cup taking place in the early afternoon beforehand at Ross Juniors FC.

There will be loads of World Cup themed activity, games and fun taking place including face painting and a mini tournament!  Plus we will end the day with a viewing party for the big match in the Ross clubhouse – fingers crossed it’s England in the final!

Joe Mathias, Football Development Manager at Herefordshire FA commented:

“With the Womens World Cup just a week away women’s and girls’ football is getting some well-deserved attention.

With all the excitement around the Lionesses competing, there is bound to be more girls wanting to play football and SSE Wildcats provides the perfect opportunity for girls aged 5-11 to give it a try.  We will be looking to celebrate the tournament in style, and we hope this creates a lifelong love of the sport amongst the next generation of female footballers.”

There are six Wildcats Centres spread across Herefordshire, all operated by an FA qualified coach who has received extra training on delivering appropriate fun sessions for girls aged 5-11 of all abilities. Wildcats Centres will continue to run after the World Cup, so players can continue to receive coaching and learn to play football. To register please contact your nearest Wildcats Girls Football Centre on the details below - or just turn up on the specified day.
