On Sunday 29^th August, Herefordshire FA are running their first Women’s Football Festival supported by This Girl Can. This exciting event will provide women aged 16 and up the opportunity to give football a try alongside players of all abilities in a relaxed and social environment.

The day will include beginner sessions, an intro to walking football, coaching for players who are moving from youth football into the adult game plus a tournament for existing players. Coaches and volunteers from women’s clubs and teams will be on hand to show you the ropes, answer any questions and make sure your football experience is a good one. There will also be plenty of opportunities to just socialise, and maybe have a well-earned glass of fizz at the end of the day.

“We are really excited to host this festival, supported by This Girl Can. Our aim is to see loads of new players coming down, giving football a try and meeting some of the existing clubs and coaches.

“Within Herefordshire we are so lucky to have clubs providing both recreational and competitive football options for female players. It doesn’t matter if you’re an ex-pro or have never played before and are just wanting to get more active, socialise or try something new; the choice is yours. There will be something for everyone so we would encourage all women, regardless of age or ability to bring your friends, mums or daughters to come and see what all the fuss is about!”

By running this event Herefordshire FA hope to bring the female football community together to celebrate the women’s game and the clubs who already do so much to provide opportunities for women in the county. With the Women’s Euros under a year away, and being hosted in England, this is the perfect time to give football a try and get prepared for the hype next year.

Football provides a fun and enjoyable way to become more active and has numerous physical health as well as mental health benefits. This Girl Can have provided funding to support Herefordshire FA in delivering their first Women’s Football Festival. They recognise the potential impact of such an event on engaging new participants as well as those who may have played previously but taken a break from the game.

The HFA Women’s Football Festivall will take place on Sunday 29^th August at the HFA County Ground.
