HFA FA For All

HFA releases summary of 2022-23 customer survey

Thank you to everyone from across the game who provided feedback

The HFA released a wide-ranging survey, following the end of the 2022-23 season.

Following previous feedback, the survey was shortened and this saw a significant increase in respondents. Many thanks to everyone who answered the survey, with responses being received from all key groups across the game.

Having reviewed the responses, the HFA is pleased to release the following summary, together with agreed actions.

Overall satisfaction

It is very pleasing to announce that 75% of all respondents rated the HFA’s services as ‘good’ or above. Whilst this is a positive result, the HFA will continue to work hard to ensure this increases.

U18 player feedback

Yet again, young players are telling us loudly and clearly that the number one reasons why they play football is to have fun with their mates. They are also telling us that negative behaviour of opposition coaches and parents is the number one reason they don’t like football. It is essential that we listen to this feedback and focus on ensuring a positive environment for all.

CPD Sessions

You said – We would like CPD sessions to be offered at different times

We have – Agreed a programme of CPD for 2023-24 with sessions across a range of times and dates

Referee numbers

You said – We would like more games to be covered by referees

We have – Ensured a programme of ongoing support for referees including additional opportunities for new referees. This was in place in 2022-23 and resulted in increased coverage across all leagues.

Feedback from the survey indicates that the number one reason for referees stopping is abuse from spectators and coaches, so we would urge everyone to ensure their conduct is impeccable.

Feedback from the survey also confirmed that young referees support the ‘purple socks’ campaign, which will be continuing

Financial support for clubs

You said – we need to do more to promote grant opportunities for smaller clubs

We have – agreed to release a regular newsletter throughout the year promoting all funding opportunities for clubs

Introductory sessions for newly qualified coaches

You said – we can do more to support coaches once they have completed the FA’s online course

We have – agreed to introduce a CPD session aimed at this group and will continue to engage with coaches once qualified

Young person section of the website

You said – we need to improve this area

We have – already made some changes and agreed a programme to ensure this section will be improved during 2023-24

The HFA Board has agreed to repeat the survey annually and we look forward to continuing to develop our services to the game.
