Learning and development is an active, continuous process. It's a journey that never ends. And one that is shaped by experiences and learning opportunities gathered anywhere, anytime.

To support your journey, The FA provides a range of learning opportunities for you to engage with. From events in your region to online resources to in situ mentoring, you can access the development support that will make the biggest impact to you and your role.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is part of being an FA Licensed Coach - it's for those striving to be the best coach they can be, and those trying to constantly improve their skill set.

The FA Safeguarding certificate needs to be renewed every 3 years. It is essential that volunteers, coaches and referees involved in youth football hold an up to date and current Safeguarding certificate so if yours is expiring soon it needs to be renewed.

If you have not done the Safeguarding course previously then you first need to attend the course in person. However once you have attended the course you can either renew it in person or online. It is recommended for those renewing to take the online course. For details and links to the online Safeguarding workshop please click here

CPD Event for L1, 2 & 3 Coaches: England DNA: Principles of Play in Practice (Youth Development Phase)

With a focus on coaches working with players aged between 12-16 (but learning points for all coaches) this event will explore how coaches can create game-related practices that bring out the principles of play. Learning Outcomes:

  • Simple game design
  • Further clarity on the principles of play
  • Impacts on player development

CPD Event for all coaches

A development opportunity highly recommended for all coaches no matter who you coach! This evening will focus on the technical corner of the four-corner model and ways of incorporating more detail into your coaching, our topic for this CPD is;

Why our players play

Because they love the game: The joy of scoring and stopping goals.

To be more skilful: How can I help players to learn and understand the game?

To be with their friends: How might I use football as a vehicle for developing social skills?
