Mentoring for Referees

The Herefordshire FA are committed to ensuring new match officials are provided with the utmost support in the early stages of their careers. Our mentoring workforce have a desire and commitment to help and support the next generation of Herefordshire's refereeing workforce. Referee Mentors play a huge part in the practical development of officials at all stages of their refereeing career; from newly qualified referees to those officials seeking to climb the promotion ladder.

From the 2017/2018 season, the new Mentoring Scheme will offer stability and long-term support to referees going through a transition period in their qualification and embarking on their new challenge. Mentors will provide a listening ear, advice and support, as well as being the regional point of contact, and can therefore have a very important impact on their career.

Other opportunities to support the refereeing workforce include observing, tutoring and coaching. All voluntary positions provide some reimbursement; if you would like to get involved, please contact the Referee Development Officer.

Any referee can be a Mentor to other referees but the more experience you have the more relevant advice/support you can offer to other referees. If you are a young referee at School, are there other referees there that can assist you with advice or you can offer advice to?

Just contact our Referee Development Officer, Sean Dipple, with your name, address, age, availability and number of years experience.

If you feel like you would benefit from some extra mentoring just contact our Referee Development Officer, Sean Dipple
