Bromyard Veterans Make a Strong Start to Their Title Defence
The newcomers kicked off their season against last year’s champions Bromyard FC. Bromyard showed the quality that took them to the title last season and took a comfortable victory with goals from Stewart Graham, Paul Burton, John Phillips and an own goal. Weston suffered from late withdrawals prior to the game but did grab a consolation goal. The final score was Bromyard 7 Weston 1.
The second week saw last year’s champions take on last year’s runners up, Fownhope Sunday, in the early kick off. The game was a tight affair with Bromyard sneaking a 2-1 win, Stewart Graham and Paul Burton with the goals for Bromyard, Martin Jones with the goal for Fownhope. The other fixture this week was a local derby between Ross Juniors and Weston in what proved to be another tight affair. The final result was 1-1 with Shane Bruton grabbing the goal for Weston before an own goal gave both teams a share of the points.
In the third round of fixtures Bromyard took on Ross and made it three wins from three with a 2-0 victory. Stewart Graham scored his fourth goal in three games with Ceri Owen grabbing the other.
Next up is Fownhope A v Weston and Fownhope Sunday v Ross Juniors on Sunday 6th July. Games kick off at 11:15 and 13:45 respectively at the Hereford Academy so why not get down and support the teams?
